Two women who were locked up in a small South Texas county jail in 2010 filed a federal civil lawsuit recently saying that jailers ran a "rape camp" were guards routinely raped female prisoners, according to a lawsuit reported by the Courthouse News Service.
Vincent Aguilar, Israel Charles Jr. and Jaime E. Smith, former jailers at the Live Oak County Jail in George West, Texas, were named in the lawsuit, according to the Courthouse News Service report. The report did not mention which federal court the suit was filed in, but it was likely filed in the Southern District of Texas in Corpus Christi, which has jurisdiction over Live Oak County.
Aguilar, Charles and Smith were sentenced in state court last year in connection with sexual activity with prison inmates, according MySouTex.com. Smith and Aguilar were both sentenced to 18 months in jail for improper sexual contact with a person in custody. Charles was ordered jailed for a year, said the website.

The Courthouse News Service said the plaintiff claimed that the conduct of the three former jailers was pervasive and their behavior went virtually unchecked.
"Beginning sometime in 2007 to at least August of 2010 the Live Oak County Sheriff's office ran a 'rape camp' known as the Live Oak County Jail," the news service quotes the lawsuit. "In this facility, numerous jailers, all employed by the Live Oak County Sheriff's Office, repeatedly raped and humiliated female inmates over an extended period of time."
"These forced acts of lasciviousness included, but are not limited to, forcing female inmates to repeatedly perform oral sex on male guards, forcing female inmates to repeatedly masturbate the male guards, the male guards masturbating in view of the female inmates . . ." the news service said the lawsuit continued.

The lawsuit said, according to the news service, the women were repeatedly sexually harassed by the guards.
The women, represented by Ronald W. Armstrong II in San Antonio, are seeking punitive damages for civil rights violations, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The news service story did not report if the women were seeking specific monetary damages.
