U.S. Sen. Rand Paul’s new book,
The Tea Party Goes to Washington, tells the inside story of his historic 2010 campaign, the
Lexington Herald-Leader reported Thursday.
In the book, the Kentucky senator explains the tea party principles that led to his victory, calling the movement the “most revolutionary force in politics today.” Paul, the son of Republican U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, cited other books, including The Conscience of a Conservative by Barry Goldwater and Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, as must-reads for conservatives.
He criticizes President Barack Obama’s big-government spending habits.
Paul told the newspaper that he wanted to "further the message that both parties need public surveillance, public scrutiny and the public to force them to be better people in taking care of the people's money."
Paul is scheduled to appear on CBS’s
Late Show with David Letterman on Thursday to talk about the book. The TV appearance will be followed by a book tour. He wrote the book with Jack Hunter, a conservative radio talk-show host in Charleston, S.C.
