Cyclone Debbie not only brought floods to Queensland, but a bull shark also washed up to shore after the tropical storm swept across the Australian coast on Tuesday.

Despite warnings from police in the Australian state asking residents to refrain from leaving their homes during the storm, some residents were seen surfing and playing in the floodwaters that hit the area, CNN reported.

However, officials hoped the discovery of a dead bull shark in floodwaters floodwaters in Ayr, a city in Queensland, would deter people from entering the water.

"He must’ve gotten caught in a torrent and confused, beached himself on the side of the road," WIN News Townsville journalist Philip Calder said in describing how he came across the dead shark while out reporting, according to Fox News.

"We were pretty amazed, we were turning up to shoot a flooding road, we weren’t expecting to see wildlife as well."

According to reports, the shark was found in the Burdekin River, which is located in North and Far North Queensland and is known to have bull sharks as well as turtles and barracudas.

The Category 3 cyclone was the most powerful storm to hit Queensland since 2011 when the region was plagued by Cyclone Yasi, CNN noted.
