Priyanka Chopra’s bare legs turned into a scandal in India after the actress met with India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on Tuesday.
Chopra sat with her bare legs crossed throughout her meeting with Modi, according to India Forums.
Chopra was immediately criticized and accused of sitting "wrongly" during the meeting.
"Indian custom frowns upon any attire that bares a woman’s knees," according to the Inquisitr.
Chopra responded to the backlash in a rather cryptic way, posting a picture of her and her mother on Instagram.
The photo showed off both of their bare long legs and the actress captioned it: "Legs for days…#itsthegenes with @madhuchopra nights out in #Berlin #beingbaywatch."
Despite some of the negative reactions to Chopra’s attire during her meeting with the Prime Minister, there were some Facebook users that came to her defense.
Varun Dhawan, an Indian actor, came to Chopra’s defense as well, arguing that the actress should be appreciated for the work she has done instead of being criticized for a fashion choice, the Inquisitr noted.
"All this is very stupid and social media trolling is not something that needs to become a national issue," Dhawan said.
According to Too Fab, Chopra was in Berlin this week to promote "Baywatch," an R-rated comedy starring the actress and fellow actors Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Zac Efron and David Hasselhoff.
"Baywatch" is now playing in theaters.
