Prince Harry is "upset" the Queen will be stripping him and Meghan Markle of their royal patronages amid concerns they will be used to promote the Royal couple's upcoming Netflix documentary as well as U.S. talk shows.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be losing all their remaining positions they had maintained after stepping down as royals last year, according to a new report by the U.K.'s Daily Mail.
Harry will lose his three military titles and potentially his patronages with the Rugby Football Union, Rugby Football League, and the London Marathon, while Meghan would have to step down as patron of the National Theatre.
The news comes after the couple agreed to do a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
According to an official announcement shared to Meghan's Instagram account, the 90-minute CBS special, which airs March 7, will cover a range of topics including the couple's move to the U.S. "and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family."
A source speaking with The Sun said Harry's military titles made him more marketable.
"There is no secret that Americans love a Brit in army uniform," the insider said. "Harry is far more marketable pictured with his Army uniform at events in the UK than as a bloke in a shirt and chinos.
"There would always be a suspicion military titles and patronages could end up being used on a documentary or television show somewhere," the source continued. "Is this picture going to be used to promote something next time he has something coming out?"
"There will always be that doubt. You can't allow people to accuse you of doing it for your own interests. It’s unworkable."
