The royal Christmas card from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge features a photo of 2-year-old Prince George stopped in mid-motion and with a friendly smile.
The official photo was released this week along with an announcement that Prince George will begin attending a Montessori nursery school in January near the family's home about 110 miles north of London,
USA Today reported.
The photo was taken in October at Kensington Palace in the garden, and photographer Chris Jelf managed to capture both Prince George and his sister, Princess Charlotte, smiling.
"I thoroughly enjoyed photographing a very lovely family, although you have to be sharp as you don't have long when there are two young children involved!" said Jelf. "I hope everyone enjoys this photo and I am honored that the Duke and Duchess have decided to share it with the public."
BBC News reported that the Cambridges appreciate the privacy the press has shown them with regard to their children. Prince George continues a precedant that began with his father, Prince William, the first royal baby to receive a nursery school education outside of the palace.
If Twitter responses to the new family photo are anything to judge by, Prince George already has a fan following:
