Prince George celebrated his first birthday Tuesday in a much more low-key manner than the media frenzy that surrounded the royal baby's birth last year.
"The family is marking it privately with close family and friends at
Kensington Palace," a spokesperson told Us Weekly of the special day.

Prince George Alexander Louis was born July 22, 2013, to parents William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, after months of near-frenzied anticipation in both the U.S. and U.K. He is third in line to the throne after grandfather Prince Charles and father Prince William.
The royal family marked the occasion with new photos of the little prince walking. The snapshots were taken by Press Association photographer John Stillwell earlier this month at the Sensational Butterflies exhibit at London's Natural History Museum.
A source close to the royal family told Us Weekly that William and Kate are trying to give Prince George as normal a childhood as possible.
"George will be getting clothes and wooden toys from mum and dad for his birthday," the source said. "William and Kate don’t want to go overboard. He has been given so many gifts over the months and there’s only so much space to store them."
