The Powerball jackpot jumped to $196 million this week after no one hit on Wednesday's numbers.

The winning numbers for July 24 were 9, 29, 40, 44, 54, with a red Powerball number of 7.

One ticket purchased in Pennsylvania matched the five white numbers, winning $2 million, and Idaho, Missouri, New Jersey, and Tennessee each had a $1 million winner each.

The new jackpot is now $196 million with a cash option of $114.6 million. The next drawing is Saturday.

Meanwhile, the 84-year-old Zephyrhills, Fla., woman who claimed the biggest Powerball jackpot in history in June has donated some of her fortune to help renovate a high school in her old Maine hometown.

Gloria MacKenzie won the $590.5 million Powerball jackpot and opted for the lump sum of $370.9 million (or $278 million after taxes). Now, she has offered $2 million to fix Schenck High School's leaky roof in her native East Millinocket, Maine, the Bangor Daily News reported. MacKenzie's daughter reportedly teaches biology at the high school.

"It is kind of amazing," Superintendent Quenten Clark told the Daily News. "They lived in the community for generations and they are willing with their good fortune to help the community."

Clark said without MacKenzie's donation, the school was headed for closure.
"They take their heritage to heart when it comes to the town and helping the town out," school board Chairman Daniel Byron told the Daily News.

MacKenzie has stayed out of the public eye since winning her millions. Her only comments to reporters came in the form of a statement read by lottery officials on her behalf.

"While in line at Publix, another lottery player was kind enough to let me go ahead of them in line to purchase the winning Quick Pick ticket," MacKenzie said in the statement. "We are grateful with this blessing of winning the Florida Lottery Powerball jackpot. We hope that everyone would give us the opportunity to maintain our privacy for our family’s benefit."
