Playboy model Tahlia Paris joined the dating app Bumble with hopes of finding love amid the coronavirus pandemic but her experience was short-lived after moderators reportedly removed several photos from her profile.
"I was on the app for not even a few hours because pictures I tried posting to my profile were removed even though they were normal photos," the 24-year-old told Daily Mail.
Among the photos removed was one of her strolling on the beach in a bikini, one of her on the red carpet and another of her playing packman in a pair of jeans and a bikini top. In a statement, Bumble explained that profiles cannot feature "shirtless bathroom mirror selfies" or any images of people wearing "underwear or swimsuits" indoors. Paris said the photos she posted were "very basic" and "PG."
"I wanted guys to not stop at my profile because I'm a professional model but because I was just another average girl looking to date," she said. "I even kept my Instagram and everything private and separate from Bumble. I've had guys in the past solely try to hook up with me because of my presence on social media."
Paris said she joined Bumble thinking it would be easier to meet people online since "everything in LA is completely shut down due to COVID" and admitted she was "upset" when her account was eventually closed but admitted to also feeling "relieved" as she found online dating to be nerve-wracking.
"Online dating has never really been something I'm into but in these circumstances, I thought I'd try it and it didn't work out. Maybe it's for the best," she said. "I would have to start all over with a new account and I'm not sure it's worth it at this point."
Paris is not the only celebrity to have bad luck on Bumble. In 2019, Sharon Stone's account was blocked.
"I went on the @bumble dating sight and they closed my account," she said in a post to Instagram. "Some users reported that it couldn’t possibly be me! Hey @bumble, is being me exclusionary? Don’t shut me out of the hive."
Along with the post, Stone shared a screenshot of the message she received from Bumble notifying her that her account had been blocked.
"We're committed to keeping Bumble safe, which means we have to enforce certain rules when our values are violated," it read. "Your account has been blocked because we've received several reports about your profile being fake."
