Phil Spector Prison Photo Shows What a Life Behind Bars Can Do

Age and time in prison have not been kind to Phil Spector, the legendary music producer convicted in 2009 for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson.

Spector, 74, who produced hits like the Righteous Brothers' "You Lost that Loving Feeling" and The Beatles "Let it Be," had a flamboyant lifestyle until it all came crashing down in 2003 when he was charged with Clarkson's murder, according to the New York Daily News, and now the toll of prison is showing.

"Gone is the teased out blond Afro wig Spector made famous during his six-year long legal fight to beat murder charges stemming from the 2003 killing of Clarkson at his Los Angeles-area mansion," wrote the Daily News' Jason Molinet after seeing a recent prison photo taken at the California State Prison Health Care Facility in Stockton.

"The rich, lustrous look he attempted to pull off for so many years was all a sham. Spector is bald with long, wild hair on the sides," wrote Molinet.

California Department of Corrections spokeswoman Terry Thornton told the Huffington Post on Tuesday that she could not say much about the photo except where it was taken because of privacy regulations. Thornton did tell the Post that the facility provides mental and medical services to inmates who have chronic sickness and who are among the state's most severely ill.

Online reaction to Spector's  prison photo contained the usual snark.
