Could Peyton Manning be joining the hapless Cleveland Browns (0-11) as his next move after retiring as an NFL quarterback icon? Perhaps as a part owner?

League sources speaking to CBS Sports believe it is possibility, noting that Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is determined to bring Manning into his franchise by offering him a top executive role.

The team has yet to see a win this season and has only one victory to its name since the start of the 2016 season.

Haslem, who has known Manning since he was recruited to the University of Tennessee, hopes to use their close relationship to lead the Browns to Cleveland.

NLF sources told CBS News that Haslem may sweeten the deal by offering Manning a small equity stake in the team.

However, those close to the Hall of Fame quarterback believe he was more interested in taking up an executive role with The Tennessee Titans or New Orleans Saints, LarryBrown Sports.com said.

There has been ongoing speculation as to what Manning’s next move will be.

Earlier this year Jay Glazer of Fox Sports said there had been reports prior to Manning’s retirement that he intended to take up a front office position once his playing career ended.

Glazer later said Manning would be back in the NFL as a managerial position, name dropping the Browns, Titans and the L.A. Rams.

Sports Illustrated reported in October that Manning seemed interested in running a team one day but not any time soon.

“It certainly could be a possibility,” he said, per the report. “But I know what that job entails, and that is an all-in job.”

Manning said he knew what commitment it would take to run a team and it was not the right place for him.

“As far as what will happen in the next few years I can't really say, but like I said, I will always be close to the game.”
