Peter Frampton Cell Phone: Singer Throws Rule-Breaking Fan's Device

Peter Frampton relieved a fan of his cell phone and threw it behind the stage after the front-row fan wouldn't stop recording video during a concert in Indiana on Sunday.

According to OnStage Magazine, Frampton indicated to a couple several times that they weren’t allowed to take flash photos or any video of the concert, which was at the Palladium in Carmel.

"At first, Peter kept gesturing to them saying, 'No, don’t do that. Stop!'" Melissa Schickel wrote for the magazine. But the couple continued, the woman with a camera and the man with a cell phone, even when Frampton turned his back to the crowd and sang like that for a couple of minutes.

Even after security from the venue talked to the couple, they waited a while and then continued taking photos and video.

Finally, Frampton, fed up, walked over to the guy, Schickel reported, and said, “Hey, can I see that? Can I see the photos you’ve been taking?” The guy handed over his phone.

“Peter stands up, spins, and flings for the rafters!” Schickel wrote. “Yes! The phone went flying to the back of the stage and we all erupted in cheers!”

Frampton himself linked on Facebook to a fan's blog post about the concert that explained the "Frampton people" had arranged with the venue that still photos should be allowed, since generally the Palladium has a strict no-photo, no-video policy.

Fans didn’t seem at all put off by Frampton’s destruction of the cell phone.

“I agree with what Peter did! I am so sick of going to concerts and all you can see is phones held up in the air, most aren't real fans and they ruin it for everyone else, it should be banned a picture every now and then is fine, like how it use to be,” one person wrote on a story about the incident on Ultimate Classic Rock.
