When it comes to patriotic music, absolutely no one tops America's country singers. For well over a century, America's rural musicians have written, played, and sang tunes extolling our country's greatness, its liberty, equality for all, and leadership in the world.

Here, Newsmax presents 50 of the greatest patriotic country tunes. Read and listen, and you will hear America singing.

1. "This Land is Your Land" — Perhaps the granddaddy of all songs celebrating the vastness and greatness of America, this tune was written in 1940 and recorded in 1944 by folk artist Woody Guthrie.

2. "God Bless The USA" — Country singer Lee Greenwood captures the spirit of our country with lyrics such as: "I'm proud to be an American/Where at least I know I'm free." The song was released in 1992 to instant popularity.

3. "Where the Stars and Stripes and Eagles Fly" — It was a huge hit for country singer Aaron Tippin in 2001, and it became the anthem for patriotism in the post-9/11 era.

4. "American Soldier" — Released by Toby Keith in 2003, this song praises America's troops, and states: "When liberty's in jeopardy I will always do what's right/I'm out here on the front lines/Sleep in peace tonight."

5. "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" — Keith's 2001 song, subtitled "The Angry American," expresses rage over the 9/11 attack and warns: "Justice will be served/And the battle will rage/This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage/And you'll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. Of A."

6. "Ragged Old Flag" — Released in 1974 by Johnny Cash, this tune features a trip through the history of America's wars, which left the "ragged old flag" still flying.

7. "America" — A hit for country singer Waylon Jennings in l984, the song had a message of American inclusiveness between veterans and non-veterans and those of every race.

8. "In America" — Recorded in 1980 by the Charlie Daniels Band, it pulls no punches after the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis with its unabashed warning that, when threatened, Americans will always pull together.

9. "Only In America" — This 2001 song from country singers Brooks and Dunn was used by both George W. Bush's and Barack Obama's presidential campaigns.

10. "Arlington" — A 2005 tune by country singer Trace Adkins, it tells the story of a soldier killed in America's wars, and states: "I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company/I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done/I can rest in peace/I'm one of the chosen ones/I made it to Arlington."

11. "The Ballad of Ira Hayes" — In this song, Peter LaFarge relates the story of an American Indian hero who was one of the troops who raised the flag on Iwo Jima. It was popularized by Johnny Cash in 1964.

12. "Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning"
— Recorded by Alan Jackson in 2002, "Where Were You" speaks of Americans' reactions to the destruction of the World Trade Center.

13. "My Neighbors in Delray" — A gripping 2001 song by folk singer Rod MacDonald on his recording, "Recognition," tells the poignant story of how the 9/11 hijackers lived unnoticed among South Floridians before they flew planes into the World Trade Center.

14. "Fly Over States" — Jason Aldean's 2012 song glorifies those who live in the largely rural middle of the country.

15. "Letters From Home"
— This 2004 song by John Michael Montgomery is about an American soldier overseas, who is reading letters from his sweetheart and family.

— A 2004 song by country singer Chely Wright, it relays an incident in which a woman verbally assaulted her in traffic for having a Marine Corps bumper sticker in honor of her brother who was fighting in Iraq.

17. "The Fightin' Side Of Me"
— Merle Haggard recorded this tune in 1970 during America's struggle in Vietnam to express support for those who supported the U.S. It goes: "If you don't love it, leave it/Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'/If you're runnin' down my country/Man, you're walkin' on the fightin' side of me."

18. "It's America"
— Rodney Atkins summed up in 2009 what makes living in the USA so great: "It's a high school prom/It's a Springsteen song/It's a ride in a Chevrolet/It's a man on the moon and fireflies in June and kids sellin' lemonade/It's cities and farms/It's open arms/One nation under God."

19. "Riding With Private Malone" — This 2001 song by country star David Ball is about a veteran who buys a used car and finds a note from a Pvt. Malone in the glove compartment, saying, "If you're reading this, then I didn't make it home."

20. "Some Gave All" — The title song to Billy Ray Cyrus' 1992 album has lyrics like: "All gave some and some gave all/And some stood through for the red, white, and blue/And some had to fall."

21. "American Made"
— A 1983 title song for the Oak Ridge Boys' album, it urges Americans to buy American-made products and boasts, "My baby is American made."

22. "In God We Still Trust" — This 2009 song by the country group Diamond Rio tackles the controversy raging over banning God from courthouses and schools.

23. "The Battle of New Orleans"
