Paris Hilton has accused David Letterman of "purposely trying to humiliate" her. Speaking with her sister and guest host Nicky Hilton Rothschild in a new episode of her "This Is Paris" podcast, the heiress recalled how "uncomfortable" and "upset" Letterman made her feel in a 2007 interview that has resurfaced.
"At this point I hadn't done an interview in months and months because I just didn't want to talk about it," Paris said in reference to the time she spent in jail after violating her probation stemming from a reckless driving incident, according to Entertainment Tonight.
In the interview, Paris is seen growing visibly uncomfortable as Letterman repeatedly brings the topic up. At one point she cuts him off, stating that she has "moved on with my life" and did not want to talk about it anymore. However, Letterman continued to bring her prison stint up.
Speaking with her sister, Paris said she received a call from Letterman's team inviting her onto the show. She had just released a new fragrance, which is what they were meant to discuss. Paris' jail time was off limits, according to an agreement between Letterman's representatives and her PR Team.
"I felt like it was a safe place," Paris said. "So there was not supposed to be one question, and then he just kept pushing me and pushing me and I was just getting so uncomfortable and I was so upset," she continued. "It was like he was just purposely trying to humiliate me. During commercial breaks I would look at him and be like, 'Please stop doing this, you promised me you wouldn't talk about this.' ... It was just very cruel and very mean. After it ended, I just looked at him and I said, 'I am never coming on this show again, you crossed a line.'"
Paris also chatted about her engagement to Carter Reum. She announced the news to Instagram.
"When you find your soulmate, you don't just know it. You feel it," Hilton captioned a series of engagement photos. In the post, she recounts how Reum popped the question.
"My love and I have been together since our first date and for my birthday, he arranged a special trip to tropical paradise," she said. "As we walked to dinner along the beach, Carter led us to a cabana adorned with flowers and dropped to one knee. I said yes, yes to forever. There's no one I'd rather spend forever with."
