Osbourne turned 65 Tuesday, and he joined other stars in the plea for donations to Royal Marsden. Sir Paul McCartney and The Wanted stars Nathan Sykes and Max George and Mel C all asked fans to donate to the organization on their birthdays.
Royal Marsden’s birthday giving page showed around 2,000 pounds, which is about $3,200. That’s a total for birthday donations throughout the year, not just for Osbourne’s birthday. But a few fans made note of their gift for the Black Sabbath rocker.
“Happy Birthday to the Prince of Darkness! I put your face on the billion dollar legal tender note and added, ‘In Ozzfather We Trust!” Super Novus Ordo Seclorum How’s that for a KamikOZZY spin?” wrote one fan on a 100-pound donation.
The Telegraph shared Ozzy’s life in pictures in honor of his birthday. In one picture, showing Ozzy wearing a large cross necklace, the Telegraph quoted a 1997 Ozzy interview from Rolling Stone: “If you think I sleep upside-down in the rafters and fly around at night and bite people’s throats out, then that’s your thing. ... I’m not going to suddenly become a Jesus freak or anything. But I do have my beliefs and my beliefs are certainly not satanic.”
In the spirit of Ozzy’s colorful personality,
Noise Creep provided 10 “intriguing” facts about the singer, including that there’s a wax statue of him that pees when people approach and that Former First Lady Barbara Bush loves his music.
