O.J. Simpson reportedly considered committing suicide in the bedroom of a young Kim Kardashian just before his infamous Bronco chase that was watched live on TV by millions in 1994.
Simpson, the Hall of Fame football player and broadcaster, was facing double murder charges in connection with his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman when he recorded a suicide tape while hiding at the home of longtime friend Robert Kardashian, reported the
New York Daily News.
Kim Kardashian was a 14-year-old at the time and living with her father when Simpson hunkered down in her bedroom and recorded what he believed would be his last words for family and friends, according to Wednesday's "The Secret Tapes of the O.J. Case."
"Please remember me as 'The Juice,'" Simpson said in his recording. "Please remember me as a good guy. Don't remember me as one of the negatives that might end up here. Please, please, please, please leave my kids at peace. I love everybody."
Robert Kardashian, who was part of Simpson's legal team, found Simpson while he was making the tape and holding pictures of Brown Simpson and their children Justin and Sydney, said
People magazine.
"This is my daughter's bedroom," Kardashian told Simpson. "My little girl Kim sleeps here. I can't have my little girl in this bedroom, and every time I come in here, I'm going to see your body lying in this. You can't do that."
Lawrence Schiller, author of "American Tragedy: the Uncensored Story of the O.J. Simpson Defense," said the exchange was part of an interview Robert Kardashian gave him, noted People.
Kardashian and his ex-wife Kris, better known today as the matriarch of the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" reality show, divorced in 1989. She eventually married former Olympian Bruce Jenner (now known as Caitlyn) and uses the name Kris Jenner.. Kardashian died of cancer in 2003.
Simpson, now 68, was acquitted criminally of the double murders by a Los Angeles County jury in 1995 and is currently serving 33 years in a Nevada prison for a 2007 robbery and kidnapping, reported the Daily News.
