The inseparable duo crept into the hearts of millions earlier this year when their owner was forced to part ways with them after becoming homeless, CBS News noted.

The two canine friends share a special bond.

Blue Dozer, or Dozer for short, is a pit bull that operates as a guide dog for his blind sidekick OJ, and the two go everywhere together.

When the two turned up at Richmond Animal Care and Control, their owner begged that they be kept together and not rehomed separately as it would be detrimental to both dogs.

"They sleep together, they eat together, they lay together, they walk together, I mean they do everything together," said Christie Chipps Peters, director of RACC, according to CBS News.

The shelter put a post up on Facebook about the pair, which generated a lot of interest from the public, and it was not long before a local woman reached out wanting to offer them a home.

The adoption was thought to have gone smoothly with the new owner agreeing that the two dogs would stay together but it was not long until OJ was found alone on the side of a road near Staunton and turned into the Shenandoah center as a stray.

The owner was coaxed into giving Dozer up to the RACC so that the two dogs could be reunited and soon the wet-nosed buddies were back together at the Richmond shelter.

At the time their future seemed uncertain but on Friday their luck took a turn for the better when another family from Richmond came forth to adopt the pair.

"These dogs have taken us on a roller-coaster ride of emotion and turmoil and yet remained steadfast in their love for each other and their ability to adapt and overcome vexing circumstances," RACC posted to Facebook.
