Obama will hand out Medals of Freedom on Tuesday, and many of those recipients are donors or supporters of Obama and the Democratic Party, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

The White House announced the 21 honorees on Wednesday – individuals who will be awarded for making “especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States.”

An analysis of Federal Election Commission records by the Washington Free Beacon found that 11 of the honorees have donated to different Democratic committees or campaigns and to politicians like Obama and Hillary Clinton over the years.

Talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres is one of the 2016 honorees who has openly supported Democrats for several years, donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to the party’s committees and campaigns, the Beacon noted.

In 2012, DeGeneres donated more than $35,000 to the Obama Victory Fund. She also contributed $100,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund this year after endorsing Clinton publicly on her talk show early in the campaign, the Independent Journal Review noted.

Actor Robert De Niro offered his support to Obama during his second campaign, donating thousands of dollars to the DNC and contributing $10,000 to the Obama Victory Fund in 2012.

Actor Tom Hanks, who will also be awarded with a Medal of Freedom on Tuesday, endorsed Obama during his first presidential campaign in 2008, donating more than $2,000 toward both of Obama’s campaigns and thousands to the DNC and other Democrats, the Beacon noted.

Legendary basketball player Michael Jordan, who Obama referred to as a “hack” golfer during a recent interview, hosted a $3 million fundraiser for the president during his second pursuit of the White House, Forbes noted.

Some of the other notable honorees for this year’s Medal of Freedom ceremony include Cicely Tyson, Robert Redford, “Saturday Night Live” creator Lorne Michaels, Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Vin Scully, Hollywood Life noted.

“The Presidential Medal of Freedom is not just our highest civilian honor – it’s a tribute to the idea that all of us, no matter where we come from, have the opportunity to change this country for the better,” President Obama said in a statement. “From scientists, philanthropists, and public servants to activists, athletes, and artists, these 21 individuals have helped push America forward, inspiring millions of people around the world along the way.”
