President Obama to Skip Upcoming Hollywood Fundraiser

President Barack Obama will not be going to Hollywood for the next scheduled star-studded fundraising event.

After a slew of Hollywood fundraisers, which included celebs George Clooney and Sarah Jessica Parker, the president’s campaign staffers may have tired of criticisms that emanated from a wide spectrum, including Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, which among other things referred to the president as the “Celebrity-in-Chief.”

Talk show host Rush Limbaugh labeled him “Barack Hussein Kardashian.”

Rather than showing up at an event featuring young Hollywood notables, Obama will instead send a campaign “geek squad,” which will consist of Chief Technology Officer Harper Reed, Battleground States Director Mitch Stewart, and Director of Opinion Research David Simas.

The fundraiser will be held Friday, June 29, and will be an early evening event at the exclusive West Hollywood venue Soho House, owned by Ron Burkle, a supporter of former President Bill Clinton.

Scores of celebrities and entertainment industry executives have signed up to co-host the affair, including “The Avengers” actor Clark Gregg, “Dirty Dancing” actress Jennifer Grey, “One Tree Hill” actress Sophia Bush, director David Fincher, actors Zach Braff, Maria Bello, and Jared Leno, and “Big Bang Theory” star Johnny Galecki.

The fundraiser is part of the Obama campaign’s Gen44 initiative, which is designed to motivate younger voters, and comes after a private meeting that Obama held in Beverly Hills to seek the assistance of an influential group of Hollywood celebrity youth.

Tickets for Friday’s event will reportedly go for $500, with the co-hosts shelling out $2,500 per person.
