Obama Raises $4 Million in Southern California

President Barack Obama traveled to Los Angeles for two days of fundraising this week and averaged $2 million a day as he attended multiple Southern California events on Wednesday and Thursday. Democratic National Committee Southern California finance chairman Ken Solomon confirmed the $4 million total to The Hollywood Reporter.

A significant portion of the donations came from Hollywood sources who attended a dinner held at the Holmby Hills home of soap opera producer Bradley Bell. Celebrity supporters of Obama in attendance included George Clooney, Will Ferrell, Jim Belushi, and Jack Black.

Immediately prior to the meal, a concert was given by the Foo Fighters, a Grammy winning rock band.

The president called Black “one of my favorites” and additionally identified himself as a fan of the hard-rocking musicians.

“Love the Foo Fighters,” Obama said.

After fundraising in Los Angeles, the president traveled further south to Corona Del Mar, which is an affluent enclave in Orange County. A fundraising breakfast was held at a private home near the Pacific Ocean coastline.

More than $4 million was raised in Los Angeles for Obama back in 2011, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, which makes the area one of the Obama campaign’s favorite destinations.

Upcoming West Coast fundraising attractions include a spring Hollywood event for celebrities and industry insiders. It will take place at the home of DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg, who is one of Obama’s biggest Southern California bundlers.
