O.J. Simpson Party: Prison 'Godfather' Throws Super Bowl Bash in Jail Cell

O.J. Simpson, once a shining star of the San Francisco 49ers, decided to throw a Super Bowl party this year. Due to circumstance, however, he held the event it in his prison cell.

Back in 2008, Simpson was sentenced to 33 years at Lovelock Correctional Center in Nevada for kidnapping and armed robbery.

He is one of few prisoners in the facility to have a television set in his cell.

“If you have the money, you can buy a TV at the inmate store and put it in your cell,” Simpson’s producer-friend Norman Pardo told the New York Post. “He’s like the Godfather of the prison now.”

Inmate friends of Simpson's crammed into his 80-sq.-foot cell to watch the big game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens.

Simpson was traded from the Buffalo Bills to the 49ers ahead of the 1978 season. He was on the team for two seasons before he retired from the NFL to become an actor and sports commentator.

Pardo is hoping to sell the movie "Unpromotable" about his job rejuvenating Simpson's reputation, following the 1995 murder trial of Simpson's ex-wife Nicole Brown and her boyfriend Ron Goldman.

Simpson was acquitted of his ex-wife's murder, but his public image has been in tatters ever since. Pardo says the film is about what it's like to promote the world's least promotable man.

In 2007, Simpson and a group of men entered a room at the Palace Station hotel and took sports memorabilia at gunpoint. Simpson was arrested for the incident but lied to police about it, saying he took the memorabilia because it was his.

He denied that he had broken into the room or that anyone with him had a gun.
He was released briefly but later apprehended a second time. He was charged with multiple felony counts, including criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, assault, robbery, and using a deadly weapon. All of Simpson's co-conspirators took plea bargains, giving testimony that incriminated the one-time NFL great.
