Nik Wallenda defied death once again with his latest stunt, which saw the daredevil walk a tightrope untethered between two buildings in Maryland's National Harbor some 75 feet up in the air.

In the days leading up to the breathtaking stunt, Wallenda’s 230-foot walk had drawn widespread attention, but he successfully completed the high-wire act on Wednesday, NBC News reported.

There was a moment where it appeared as if Wallenda would fall as he took a knee toward the end, but the stumble appeared to be part of the act, with the daredevil grinning and telling shocked audiences that he was “just kidding.”

He then completed his walk to cheers and applause. It was considered a precursor to the Big Apple Circus, which opens at the National Harbor March 8 and runs through April 1.

Wallenda, whose family act the Great Wallendas is one of the world's most famous, holds several record titles including 10 Guinness World Records.

According to his official biography, he has also set the world record for the steepest incline for tightrope walking between two buildings, at a 19-degree incline, and for the highest blindfolded walk ever recorded at more than 500 feet.

Speaking about what drives him, Wallenda told the New York Post last year that he hopes to motivate the younger generations.

“The reason I broke 10 world records is to hopefully interest that new generation to come to see what’s under the big top. They don’t know what they’re going to see when they get there, and 95 percent are blown away,” he said.

Wallenda added that he aims to be an inspirational role model.

“I hope what I do inspires people around the world to reach for the skies,” he said, according to his official website.
