A new Pink Floyd album called "The Endless River" will be released in October, Polly Samson, wife of the band's guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour, announced this week.
Samson, whose Twitter profile lists her as one of the album's lyricists, casually tweeted out the news on Saturday.

Speaking with The Associated Press on Monday, spokesman Doug Wright confirmed that "The Endless River" will be released in October, and was based on 1993-94 recording sessions for the group's last album, "The Division Bell." He described it as "mainly ambient and instrumental music."
Like the last album, "The Endless River" will feature band members David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright, the last of which died in 2008. Roger Waters, vocalist and songwriter who contributed to the group's acclaimed albums such as "The Dark Side of the Moon" (1973) and "The Wall" (1979), officially left the band in 1985 and does not appear on either of the newer albums.
According to People magazine, Durga McBroom-Hudson, one of the band's touring vocalists, discussed other details of the upcoming album on her Facebook page after Samson tweeted out the news.
"The recording did start during the 'Division Bell' sessions (and yes, it was the side project originally titled 'The Big Spliff' that Nick Mason spoke about). Which is why there are Richard Wright tracks on it," she explained.
"But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them."
