“This is the biggest change to the Netflix experience on televisions in our history,” Neil Hunt, Netflix's chief product officer, told The Associated Press.

The new Netflix TV experience will be available on recently released Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, as well as on new Smart TVs, Blu-ray players and the Roku 3 set-top box, ABC News reported.

The new design won't be available on the Xbox One or the Apple TV because those devices require different templates based on Microsoft and Apple's respective requirements.

Aside from the makeover, users will get some help on what to watch next with more information about recommended TV show and movies. Below the video synopsis will be explanations for suggested content.

"We want discovery to be richer," Chris Jaffe, vice president of product innovation at Netflix told USA Today. "I knew one of my personal frustrations was I felt like today's Netflix experience didn't give me enough reasons for why I should watch this vs. that.”

Netflix pipes its service through high-speed Internet connections and sells it as a stand-alone option for $8 month. The company's alternative approach is increasingly popular as it has 31 million U.S. subscribers, which exceeds the audience of HBO's pay-TV channel. Still, HBO has 114 million worldwide subscribers compared to 40 million for Netflix.
