Navy medics who appeared to be mistreating infants were caught on tape. Two staff members at Naval Hospital Jacksonville have been removed from providing patient care after images and videos that appear to depict them mishandling a newborn baby emerged.

One video, which was shared by WISH-TV, shows a woman wearing scrubs and medical gloves, holding an infant by the armpits and roughly moving it around to background music.

Photos were also taken in the hospital, one of them showing a member of staff extending her middle finger to a new born baby, captioning it "how I currently feel about these mini Satans."

The video and images were allegedly posted to Snapchat and later shared with WFLA-TV by a Jacksonville woman who knew one of the women appearing in the photos from high school.

The Naval Hospital Jacksonville responded on Tuesday to the post which went viral, stating that it was aware of the video and photos that had been posted online.

"It's outrageous, unacceptable, incredibly unprofessional, and cannot be tolerated," a statement read, adding that the two members of staff that had been identified as the culprits would be handled by the legal system.

Navy Surgeon General Vice Adm. Forrest Faison said in a statement that all Navy Medicine commands were directed to review the Navy’s oaths, pledges, reasons for serving, as well as Navy Medicine’s policy regarding use of personally owned phones and other recording devices.

"Further, all commanding officers will be tasked to ensure no additional patient photos exist on social media and to take immediate action to remove such content," he said in the statement.

"I have also implemented an immediate prohibition of all personal cell phones in patient care areas until further notice."
