IHOP restaurants are celebrating National Pancake Day on Tuesday by giving away free pancakes with the goal of raising $3.5 million for charity.

This year’s event is the 10th anniversary of the fundraiser, which has raised $16 million since it began in 2006, according to the company’s website.

In exchange for a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes, customers will be asked to consider giving a donation to Children’s Miracle Network or a designated local charity.

The promotion runs from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., The Consumerist reported. Customers who donate also get a coupon worth $5 off their next visit.

"Little did we dream, 10 years ago, that thanks to the generosity of our guests, we would be able to raise $16 million, one short stack at a time, and make a substantial difference in the lives of the children in our local communities," Julia Stewart, IHOP’s interim president, said, according to USA Today.

The promotion was making the rounds on social media Tuesday, with the hashtag #NationalPancakeDay trending on Twitter.
