Police have reopened the case of Natalie Wood, who suspiciously drowned nearly 40 years ago, with attention turning back to her husband, Paul Wagner. Amid those investigations, here is a look at five other mysterious Hollywood deaths.
1. Bob Crane — The actor, who was best known for his role in the TV comedy "Hogan's Heroes," was found dead in his Phoenix apartment after being severely beaten in 1978.
According to USA Today, police suspected that Crane's friend, John Carpenter, had bludgeoned him to death with a camera tripod, although they were never able to prove this.
It later emerged that the actor had filmed and photographed pornography.
2. George Reeves — The body of the "Adventures of Superman" actor was found naked in his Beverly Hills home with a single gunshot wound to the temple, The Hollywood Reported noted.
The death was ruled as a suicide but his mother was not convinced, instead commissioning her own separate investigation which resulted in speculation turning to Reeve's former-lover, Toni Mannix.
3. Brittany Murphy — The starlet's 2009 death was initially attributed to multiple drug intoxication, pneumonia and "iron deficiency anemia," but The Huffington Post noted that a new toxicology report ordered by her father suggests that Brittany Murphy may have been poisoned.
4. David Carradine — Much speculation still surrounds the 2009 death of the "Kill Bill" actor and martial artist who was found naked and hanging in the closet of a Bangkok hotel room.
His cause of death was cited as asphyxiation after a private autopsy was performed, ruling out suicide but leaving room for the possibility of accidental death, USA Today said.
5. JonBenet Ramsey — In 1996 the family of the 6-year-old beauty pageant winner came under scrutiny when JonBenet Ramsey was found dead in the basement of their home in Colorado the day after Christmas, Time reported.
It emerged that the beauty queen had been beaten and strangled and, while a cloud of suspicion hung over her parents, no one was ever officially charged for the murder.
