A murder-for-hire plot that sprang from a love triangle led to the arrests of three suspects in Florida after a hit was made on the wrong woman, police said.

According to Inside Edition, after discovering the man she was in love with was in a relationship with another woman, Ishnar Marie Lopez allegedly hired Alexis Ramos and his girlfriend, Glorianmarie Quinones Montes, to track her down and kill her.

Authorities said the two suspects approached Janet Zengotita-Torres outside her workplace in Kissimmee, wrongly believing that she was their target, and forced her into the back of her car.

They then drove her to an apartment in Orlando where, upon realizing they had the wrong person, “continued with their plan of murder and tied the victim with zip ties and then [covered] her head in duct tape and garbage bags,” said Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson, per the Orlando Sentinel.

The woman struggled but she was beaten until she lost consciousness, resulting in her suffocating on the garbage bags, Gibson said, and her body was dumped in Ormond Beach where it was discovered by cable workers.

Police were able to trace the suspects through their use of Zengotita-Torres’ ATM card, which had been taken during the kidnapping, NBC News reported.

Lopez was arrested early on Friday and, after confessing, police were able to arrest Ramos and Quinones Montes at an Orange County hotel.

Gibson said per NBC New that all three suspects “confirmed that this was a murder-for-hire and the victim was mistakenly, again mistakenly, targeted and murdered.”

According to ABC News, all three face charges of premeditated first-degree murder and were booked into the Osceola County Jail.
