Mom on Strike Until Her Kids Shape Up, Pickets Own Home

A mom in North Carolina has gone on strike, picketing in front of her own home until her kids shape up.

"I said 'enough is enough.' I went on strike," Naasira Muhammad of Winston-Salem told reporters from WFMY.

"I'm to the point where I'm just so frustrated. So, to keep my hands off my kids, or to keep me from doing something crazy, I just decided to go on strike . . . This is the only solution I can think of other than getting rid of my children."

Muhammad, a single mother of two teenage girls, said that time-outs and lectures don't work the same way they used to when the girls were younger. The girls' behavior toward each other and toward her has gotten so bad that one of the girls decided to key her mother's brand new car after she asked for something, and was "told no."

When Muhammad found out about the car, she called the police. When they arrived the cops told her they couldn't press charges without a witness. Even with one, prosecutors were unlikely to press a mother-daughter case.

That's when she made a picket sign, and began marching up and down the block.

Soon enough, the girls' aunt got involved. The aunt made the girls make signs of their own.

"Thank you mom for providing for me, caring for me, and loving me," they were forced to write. They were then told to march up and down the street with their mother.

"My children don't want for nothing," Muhammad told reporters, as her daughters marched in the background.

"My children have everything they could possibly want and need, but yet they are disrespectful, they are rude they think that I'm the meanest mom in the world and they think that they can survive without me. So I said, 'You know what, that's fine. This mom is going on strike.'"
