Mollie Tibbetts, the Iowa college student who has been missing for two weeks, may have been spotted in the Kansas City area last week, police said Wednesday.

The 20-year-old vanished July 18, but may have been seen eight days later at a truck stop near the intersection of Interstate 35 and Highway 92, FOX4 Kansas City reported.

According to a police statement, officers "conducted a thorough search of the area, spoke with all possible witnesses, and reviewed all available video footage."

A report regarding the sighting has also been sent through to the investigating task force.

Tibbetts was last seen jogging two weeks ago in Brooklyn, Iowa, where she was staying at her boyfriend's house to look after his dogs while he was out of town.

She was reported missing the following day after failing to show up at work and when numerous attempts to reach her cell phone went straight through to voicemail.

Little much else is known about the case, but officials are working around the clock searching for leads.

"As far as the investigation, we don’t know a lot," her brother, Jake Tibbetts told In Touch. "We have really good people working on it and we have a lot of faith in them. They’ve been called in for a reason and are really good at what they do."

Sgt. Joe Kantola with the Kearney Police Department said that only one person at the truck stop claimed to have spotted Mollie Tibbetts on Thursday, according to Fox News.

However, several people reportedly sent KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa, screenshots of a Facebook post about a possible sighting claiming that Tibbetts "might have been drugged, looked disoriented, and was with a truck driver."

A spokesperson with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation said that, while they were investigating the tip, they could not confirm whether it was legitimate or not.

Meanwhile, a reward for any information leading to Tibbetts' safe return was increased to $30,000 on Wednesday. Anyone with any information should contact police tip lines at (800) 452-1111 or (515) 223-1400.
