Missing Sports Reporter Found Unharmed But Confused in Houston

A sports reporter who had been missing since Saturday was found late Sunday unharmed, but confused. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Courtney Roland, who covers the Texas A&M Aggies and college recruiting, was last heard from Saturday at 4 p.m. before becoming unreachable. She had texted a friend to say a man was following her as she drove home from the Heights area, but told her roommate the man, who was driving a blue truck, drove off when she got out of her car, KHOU reported.

Later, however, Roland failed to show up for a planned meeting with the roommate, her family told KHOU.

The sports reporter's Jeep was found outside the Galleria, a local shopping center, and her purse with iPad, computer, and credit cards was found inside the shopping center.

Roland was found around midnight Sunday or very early Monday near a Houston overpass not far from where her car was found, but she was confused and had to be evaluated at a hospital, Sporting News reported.

At a 1 p.m. news conference, Houston police said they believe the confusion resulted from a reaction to medication Roland was taking.

“She’s still having problems with her memory,” a police spokesperson said during the press conference, Sporting News reported.

Roland had lost her cell phone and was looking for it with her iPad, Houston police said.

Roland is safe with her family after being evaluated, Houston police reported. She has some bumps and bruises but foul play is not suspected, Sporting News reported.
