Melania Trump thanked Chelsea Clinton for defending the first couple's son Barron after he was attacked by the conservative news outlet The Daily Caller for the clothes 11-year-old wore on Sunday.
Clinton, who grew up in the White House as a child while Bill Clinton was president in the 1990s, launched into her Twitter defense after The Daily Caller criticized Barron Trump's dress while he was with his parents Sunday, when the pre-teen wore shorts and a red T-shirt, The Hill noted.
"Barron doesn't have to worry about all that (dress), but he should," the Daily Caller's Ford Springer wrote Monday. "His dad is always looking dapper and his mom has become a worldwide fashion icon since becoming first lady. The youngest Trump doesn't have any responsibilities as the president's son, but the least he could do is dress the part when he steps out in public."
Clinton, who campaigned for her mother Hillary Clinton in her run for president last year against President Donald Trump, targeted the Daily Caller column when she went to bat for Barron.
In responding to another Twitter user, Clinton doubled down on her defense of Barron Trump several hours later.
Melania Trump took notice on social media and thanked the former first daughter for speaking out.
Melania and Barron Trump moved into the White House in June to allow the younger Trump to finish the school year in New York after Donald Trump was elected president, Politico reported.
