Talk show host Megyn Kelly is losing out in her transition to daytime television, suffering from criticism, poor ratings and, apparently, celebrities who don't want to appear on her show, Variety reported Friday.

Publicists are voicing discomfort with booking their clients on Kelly's show, "Megyn Kelly Today," that airs in the third hour of "Today" on NBC.

"I'm not booking anyone on her show," one high-powered publicist told Variety. "I literally haven't pitched anyone even from right out the gate. The buzz that is out there is so bad."

Another "well-known" publicist whose client did appear on Kelly's show said, "I won't plan to have others go on," adding that no other clients "have been offered or asked to, but it'll be my preference not to" book others on her show.

Part of the problem is the direction of Kelly's new show, which was billed as focusing on lighter and uplifting topics rather than politics. Kelly left Fox News to jump to her $17 million per year contract with NBC, leaving behind a show that had been well known for its focus of the political arena.

During the summer, Kelly's producers traveled to Los Angeles to promote the show to publicists. But one publicist told Variety it seemed the producers didn't have a clear vision of the show's direction.

And two high-profile names, actresses Debra Messing of TV's "Will and Grace" and Jane Fonda, complained about comments she made during their appearances on her show.

Her previous association to conservative-leaning Fox News could also play a part, one publicist suggested.

"I don't even know if it's as much her as it is Fox News," the publicist said. "Because she came from Fox News, she was set up for failure because the industry is so polarized now and no one wants to touch anything associated with [President Donald] Trump."

Kelly's ratings have plunged from what she enjoyed at Fox News and she currently is among television's morning show losers. Variety noted she trailed by 17 percent to "Live With Kelly and Ryan" on ABC.

A spokesperson for NBC said Kelly's show is having no problem securing high-profile guests and named upcoming appearances by Miles Teller, Goldie Hawn and Alec Baldwin. And, one source said bumps were to be expected as Kelly settles in to daytime TV.

"Of course, there are going to be kinks in the first weeks, but people are being negative and unfair," the source said. "[Stephen] Colbert got killed his first week and first month."
