Megyn Kelly's new NBC morning show will kick off on Sept. 25 with a live studio audience. Politico broke the news on Tuesday morning.
"The possibility of a live studio audience had previously been reported, but now it’s officially a go," said the exclusive. "The studio audience will differentiate the program from the rest of the 'Today' show, which serves as both Kelly’s lead-in and lead-out."
Kelly's morning show debuts the same week NBC kicks off its primetime schedule.
The announcement came a day after it surfaced that the new anchor's current show, "Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly," had suffered a serious drop in ratings.
Her most recent show drew just 3.21 million viewers. With a 0.4 rating among 18- to 49-year-olds, this was a massive low for NBC, noted TV By The Numbers.
Over the past few weeks Kelly has had some high-profile controversies.
In June, she faced backlash after radio host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones released recordings of a pre-interview between Kelly and him after the network ran a highly edited promo of their conversations.
The interview was for a segment on NBC and, according to conversations between Kelly and Jones, was intended to be an in-depth profile, not an investigative report.
However, NBC later ran a promotional video of the interview in which Kelly hit on hot topics such as Jones' Sept 11 theories as well as the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting, noted Time.
This sparked backlash and an online war between Kelly and Jones ensued.
NBC chose to air the interview amid the controversy.
