On-Air Jolt for Fox News’ Terrified Megyn Kelly Makes Her a YouTube Hit

Fox News Megyn Kelly’s on-air reaction to the debut of a “news alert” graphic has gone viral.

The video of the anchor’s surprise earlier this week has since gained traction on YouTube. It was posted on Wednesday and already has been viewed by more than 1.6 million people.

In the video, Kelly, after seeing the new graphic, remarks: “I'm sorry, that was a new alert animation. Scared me a little bit . . . Maybe we should be scared, because the clock is ticking down right now to the so-called fiscal cliff . . . It's terrifying."

In a subsequent segment Kelly asked Fox News digital politics editor Chris Stirewalt for his reaction to the graphic.

“I was a little frightened, I thought something really, really bad was happening . . . Instead of just the standard badness,” said Stirewalt.

This isn’t the first time Kelly has gained national attention for her on-air actions.

Last November, Kelly was criticized by some, particularly among the left, for her supposed downplaying of the incident at UC Davis where campus police pepper sprayed students protesting tuition hikes.

In an interview with Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly, Kelly said, “I mean it's like a derivative of actual pepper. It's a food product, essentially.”

Kelly has also earned the reputation for being a passionate host, as was illustrated in a series of heated interviews with disgraced former New York Congressman Anthony Weiner. The on-air sparring matches were later ridiculed by comedian Jon Stewart during his Comedy Central show “The Daily Show,” suggesting the two were releasing sexual tensions they have for each other.

Kelly responded by denying the accusation on air and saying she was happily married.

Months later, Weiner, who was also married and expecting a child, left his office after lying about indecent photos of himself which he sent to female followers of his Twitter account.

Kelly, a former attorney and mother of two, currently anchors Fox’s “America Live” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. Kelly is also known to Fox News’ audience for her coverage of the 2012 presidential debates and co-hosting the network’s New Year’s show in Times Square.
