Nicknamed the "McDonald's goddess," a Taiwanese cashier at the burger chain has caught the attention of the Internet after a blogger's photos of her went viral.
Wei Han Xu, also known as WeiWei, became an Internet star when Taiwanese
blogger RainDog featured photos of her behind the McDonald's counter in her customary wear and in various costumes serving customers,
reported the website Rocket News.
"Taiwanese netizens were instantly smitten with Weiwei's big, round eyes and sweet smile, and a frenzy reportedly broke out on the local forums as netizens scrambled to find out which McDonald's outlet their newfound goddess worked at," wrote Joan Coello of Rocket News.
Xu, dubbed the "cutest McDonald's goddess in Taiwanese history," has also showed up behind the counter in maid's dresses, a sailor's uniform and other outfits.
She said her manager recently started to complain about all the attention she's been getting as fans came to the restaurant just to get a photo of her,
according to the New York Daily News. Xu, though, recently thanked her fans on
Facebook.
"In these few days, I received a lot of message from people that had different backgrounds," she wrote Tuesday. "I was shocked because in my point of view it is just … old news in Taiwan. I would like to say thank you to all the attentions, thank you so much to concern about me."
Because of her McDonald's exposure online, Xu has made television appearances on several Taiwanese variety shows and was hired part time as a model,
reported Crave Online.
She has a big following on Twitter.
The Daily News said Taiwanese McDonald's have long hired attractive women and encouraged them to dress up as maids, cheerleaders and sailors.
