Maurice Anderson works hard to make ends meet, but he didn’t hesitate to take off his new snow boots and give them to a homeless man riding in the same train car, WIS-TV noted, along with a pair of socks.

Anderson, a single father, was traveling home to Chicago to see his nine-year-old daughter after working the week in Kentucky as a service technician. He came across the homeless man riding on the CTA Red Line.

"I looked down and his shoes were off, one of his socks was bleeding through," Anderson said, per ABC News.

The homeless man said he thought his feet may have been frostbitten, so Anderson took his boots and handed them over.

“My gut said take them off and give them to him,” Anderson said, per WIS-TV.

“I asked him what size shoe he wears. He said 12. I wear 12, as well.”

A Chicago lawyer, Jessica Bell, witnessed the exchanged and managed to snap photos of the heart-warming moment, which she shared to social media.

She noted how Anderson happened to be carrying another pair of less expensive shoes in his suitcase, which he could have just as easily given to the homeless man, but instead he handed over his winter boots which Bell said looked new, expensive and “built for a Chicago winter.”

Coincidently, Anderson was not having a good day that Friday.

According to CBS News, his flight from Kentucky had been delayed twice and he was going home late at night on the CTA Red Line as a result.

Bell’s post on Facebook has drawn widespread interest, with people as far as India reaching out after seeing the images, according to CBS News.

“It was just so selfless, so quiet, so humble,” she said, via WIS-TV. “[That] was really what touched me about what Maurice did.”
