MSNBC’s Chris Matthews took his constant attacks on former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to a new plateau Tuesday by asking whether she was like Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, who in the past few days has been killing his own people.

In a discussion about a tell-all book written by former Palin aide Frank Bailey, and Matthews’ contention the former governor is oblivious to her surroundings, he asked “Hardball” panelists the following:
“Is she like Moammar Gadhafi, she just doesn’t know the world around her?
Replied Politics Daily and Mother Jones writer David Corn: “That’s some comparison.”
“If she shows with an umbrella, and start saying: ‘I’m here, I’m not there…’” Matthews said, in reference to a Monday video showing the Libyan leader talking from the door of his car, with an umbrella in hand. “Anyway … I thought – well, she’s not – I don’t think she’s as bad as him.
“I’m not going to go that far.”
