Matt Damon may be coming back to the "Bourne" franchise to reprise his role as Jason Bourne.
Damon and director Paul Greengrass are in talks with Universal Pictures for a
new "Bourne" movie, which could be released in 2016, according to Deadline.

Damon starred in “The Bourne Identity,” “The Bourne Supremacy,” and “The Bourne Ultimatum.” The fourth movie in the series, “The Bourne Legacy,” featured Jeremy Renner.
“I’m told that the studio is so bullish on this that the intention is to make the reteam the next Bourne film to go into production to make the July 16, 2016, release slot that Universal had previously assigned to an untitled Bourne film,” Deadline writer Mike Fleming Jr. wrote. “That means it would step in front of the spinoff sequel that is to reprise Jeremy Renner.”
Damon told CNBC earlier this year how much enjoyed playing Bourne, but said a plot for another film was a roadblock.
"We've just never been able to come up with a story," Damon said. "So, if any of your viewers have a story, please call Universal and submit it."
He also said the only way he'd do it was with Greengrass returning to direct.
Fans took to Twitter to express their excitement.
