There must be something in the drinking water at Maine Medical Center, where nine of its maternity nurses are all pregnant and expecting to give birth in the next couple of weeks.

The group got together recently for a photo which went viral after one of the nurses, Brittney Verville, shared it to Facebook.

"Something is definitely in the water here at Maine Medical Center on the Labor and Delivery Unit! Lots of baby friends being made this summer!," she captioned the image, which drew thousands of well-wishing comments.

All nine nurses work on the same maternity ward and six of them work the same weekend shift. Nurse Erin Grenier, the first to become pregnant, joked that she began to wonder if there was something in the air when the fourth of her colleagues announced her pregnancy.

"I guess I started a trend!" she said. "After each one of us started to say, 'We're pregnant,' I think it was a happier kind of announcement each time, and we're all there for each other," she added, according to Sky News.

Samantha Giglio, another pregnant nurse, said the baby boom had become a bonding experience.

"I think it’s comforting knowing we’re all in this together," she said.

Nurse Amanda Spear added that it was "really nice coming to work and seeing other people who are just as pregnant, watching their bellies pop and just talking about these experiences," according to Sky News.

Maine Medical Center assured patients that it had made provisional plans to ensure there would be no shortage of staff when the nine nurses have their babies. The soon-to-be moms said they are looking forward to getting together in the fall to snap a photo together with their babies.
