Mark Cuban could seriously be considering a 2020 presidential run, The Washington Post reported.

His aspirations emerged Tuesday during a podcast with attorney and former South Carolina congressman, Bakari Sellers.

The Dallas Mavericks owner has previously shown an interest in a White House campaign however, The Washington Post noted that this was the first time he has been so direct about his aspirations.

The duo touched on several prominent topics including net neutrality and healthcare but, when conversations turned to the conflicts of holding business interests while still being president, Sellers was prompted to ask whether Cuban would consider running for president in the U.S.

"Yes," he replied, per The Washington Post. "Considering, yes, ready to commit to it, no."

Cuban admitted it would make sense to run if he could strategize effective solutions that people could get behind.

However, the star of ABC’s "Shark Tank" added that "if it comes down to, do I think I can win because I can convince more people to vote for me? Then no, I won’t run."

During the interview, Cuban said his goal was to find solutions and referred to his political philosophy as leaning towards liberalism.

"I’m not traditional in terms of politics at all," he said.

Cuban has been a vocal opponent of Trump since the 2016 campaign and, although he has flirted with the notion of embarking upon a 2020 run for close on two years, he is now starting to take the political game more seriously.

Earlier this year, he spoke about the idea to campaign on the trail for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

"We discussed how much of a threat I believe Trump to be," Cuban said in an email to Business Insider.

"We discussed why it was important to me to get involved — that if I could have an impact and didn't try, it would have left me guessing forever."

Referring to a 2020 attempt, Cuban said what he did would depend on how things played out in the country.
