Marie Osmond, Singer Who Grew Up on TV, To Be a Grandmother

Marie Osmond is no stranger to being around big families, so the longtime entertainer could not hold back her joy in announcing Monday on national television that she's going to be a first-time grandmother.

Osmond, during an appearance on CBS's daytime talk show "The Talk," told the cohosts how her son Steven James Craig surprised her during a visit for his 30th birthday that his wife is pregnant.

Craig is Osmond's oldest child from her first marriage to former Brigham Young University basketball player Stephen Lyle Craig. Osmond and Stephen Craig divorced in 1985 but remarried in 2011, according to People.com.

"I'm so excited," Osmond said to the cheers of "The Talk" studio audience. "I'm going to be a grandma. I can't wait. Isn't that fun?"

Osmond immediately received support from one of "The Talk's" co-host Sharon Osbourne, who described the joy she gets just bathing her granddaughter.

The grandchild is welcoming news in Osmond's personal life. In February, Osmond opened up to Oprah Winfrey about about the suicide death of her 18-year-old son Michael Blosil. Blosil jumped to his death in 2010 from a high-rise apartment building in Los Angeles.

"I know I'll see my son again and it's that kind of faith that gets you through the difficult dark moments," Osmond told Yahoo omg! during the interview. "Have I been through dark moments? Absolutely. Is it difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel? Sometimes it's very challenging, but I have great hope. If I were to say one thing I would want to spread through this show and the thing that I do is give people hope. To let them know that we all go through it."

Osmond is the lone daughter of nine siblings from the show business Osmond family. Osmond performed as country singing artist in the 1970s and 1980s. From 1976-79, she co-hosted the variety television show "Donny & Marie," according to Biography.com.

In the fifth season of "Dancing with the Stars," in 2007 she finished third, according to CMT.com.  She has sold items on OVC Network and has worked as a spokeswoman for the weight loss product NutriSystem.
