Marie Osmond recently made a shocking and heartbreaking admission, revealing that at one point she thought she was gay. The reason behind it is because she was sexually abused and that led her to question her sexual identity.

The 60-year-old shared her story on "The Talk" Monday during a conversation about Miley Cyrus and her recent comments about believing she was gay because of her perspective of men.

Osmond was able to relate to what the "Wrecking Ball" singer had said.

"When I was about eight or nine, I actually thought I was gay," she said, according to Fox News. "The reason is because I had been sexually abused to the point that men made me sick. I didn't trust them, I didn't like them."

Osmond recalled experiencing feelings of confusion but said she finally found clarity through faith.

"I was looking at women and I thought 'Why am I looking at women? I must be gay.' And then I realized — because I'm a thinker — why did God give me all these great brothers and why did he give me this amazing father?" she said. This helped her to change her opinion of men, which Osmond said made her realize that the feelings she was experiencing were linked to what she was going through in life.

Osmond has had her share of struggles to overcome. In 2010 her 18-year-old son Michael Blosi jumped to his death from an eighth-floor apartment.

Her family also has suffered a slew of health issues in recent months, but Osmond said her faith gave her strength.

"I've had a lot of loss in my life and difficult things. Everybody does, I’m not saying there’s any difference. But I have great faith," she said in an interview with People Now earlier this year, according to Fox News. "When I lost my son, you know, those are the things that really bite and they determine who you are inside and what your belief structure is."

Osmond added she viewed death as a "sort of rebirth." She explained that people moved on and, while it was normal to miss them, she knew she would later see those who have passed on. "There’s no question in my mind. It’s tough, you know, but it’s OK. It’s OK."
