Remember Tonya Harding?

American ice skater Mariah Bell has been accused of deliberately injuring her South Korean rival Lim Eun-soo by kicking her in the leg minutes before the women's short program kicked off at world champs in Japan on Wednesday.

The charge brings back memories of ice skating greatest scandal ever, when Harding was accused of orchestrating an attack on her rival Nancy Kerrigan.

In the new case, the 16-year-old Korean skater called for an investigatoion after she was slashed by one of Bell’s skates during warmups.

However, after looking into the matter, the International Skating Union (ISU) has dismissed the matter.

"No formal complaint has been received," the organization said in a statementreleased Thursday. "Based on the evidence at hand at this point in time, which includes a video, there is no evidence that Ms. Bell intended any harm to Ms. Lim."

Is that the end of the matter? Perhaps not.

"The ISU met with delegates from both USA and Korea and urged both parties to find an amicable solution. The ISU maintains that this remains the appropriate approach,” the organization said in its statement,

Lim Eun-soo's agent told French media they have gone to the Korea Skating Union and asked for anl investigation, according to TMZ.

The incident was first brought to light by Korean officials who alleged that Lim, who is skating her first senior world championship, was cut in the leg after Bell, 22, crashed into her during a warmup, the AFP reported.

Lim's All That Sports agency insisted there was strong reason to believe the act was deliberate. Lim was allegedly warming up on the outskirts of the rink far away from her rivals when Bell collided into her. Adding fuel to the fire is that there have been previous reports of bullying between the two skaters, who both train under coach Rafael Arutyunyan. Lim's agency was further rattled by Bell's alleged failure to apologize.

The incident has not escaped the attention of social media, with  Bell's supporters logging on to show support.

"First of all people need to CALM DOWN and analyze," suggested one Twitter user. "Why would a veteran skater like Bell injure someone during a PUBLIC PRACTICE in front of hundreds of fans? None of the fans, who were taking notes, said ANYTHING about a collision."
