A pile of manure was dumped over the weekend in front of the Democratic headquarters in Warren County, Ohio.

Local party officials told the Washington Post that the pile of manure was first discovered by a sheriff’s deputy at about 8 a.m. Saturday.

The manure had been piled up so high that it almost completely covered up a sign — located on the entrance of the building — that read, “Smile you’re on camera.”

“What reasonable person thinks this is OK???” party chair Bethe Goldenfield posted on Facebook, according to Fox News. “I won’t be responding to anyone who thinks this is acceptable behavior. It is ILLEGAL!”

Surveillance footage, which is now being reviewed by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, shows that a dump truck was involved, the Post noted. However, more specifics about the video footage have yet to be released as the incident has become an open investigation.

One of Hillary Clinton’s slogans throughout her presidential campaign — one that she picked up from Michelle Obama — is “When they go low, we go high.”

Following the incident, David Pepper, chairman of the party, tweeted: “When they dump manure, we go high!”

“All kidding aside, obviously it’s sad to see people engage in that kind of behavior,” Pepper said.

“This is a very red county where Democrats have gotten very organized, and I think this is sort of frustration at that,” he said. If you’re a Republican [and] if you’re going to win Ohio, you need to win a place like Warren County. This is where you run up the margins to counteract what’s going to happen in Cincinnati and Cleveland and Columbus.”

Neither Goldenfield nor Pepper know exactly what prompted the manure dump.

“We’re quite organized. We’re quite motivated. That probably is something that they don’t like,” Goldenfield said about whoever is responsible for the manure dump. “It did happen in ’12 so we can’t say that it’s just about Mr. Trump…but I do think Mr. Trump [and] his vitriol has infected the public domain.”

“This is not anything that will detract us from our goal, so it will just allow us to continue to work harder,” Goldenfield added. “In a county like this, we’re used to being in a minority, so we just take these things in stride and move on.”

This all comes about four years after a similar incident where there was a manure dump at the same offices, according to the New York Daily News. There was never a perpetrator caught.

“At the time, we did not have a camera system, because it kind of caught us by surprise,” Goldenfield said about the 2012 dump. “W didn’t think something like that would happen.”
