A man allegedly threatening CNN employees was arrested after reportedly making more than 20 phone calls to the network in about a week, federal authorities said.

Brandon Griesemer, 19, of Novi, Michigan, appeared in Detroit federal court Friday on a charge of using interstate communications to threaten injury and released on a $10,000 bond by U.S. Magistrate District Judge Anthony Patti, The Guardian reported.

The FBI accused Griesemer of calling CNN's Atlanta headquarters approximately 22 times between Jan. 9-10, threatening violence against the network's staff and making racist remarks, The Guardian said.

According to an FBI affidavit, The Guardian noted, Griesemer had described CNN as "fake news." The agency charged that Griesemer threatened in one called: "I am on my way right now to gun the f****** CNN cast down … I am coming to kill you."

The affidavit stated, according to the Detroit Free Press, that in another incident, Griesemer called back and allegedly said: "I'm coming for you CNN. I am smarter than you. More powerful than you. I have more guns than you. More manpower. Your cast is about to get gunned down in a matter of hours."

Griesemer also reportedly made disparaging statements about Jewish people and African-Americans during the alleged calls, the affidavit said, CNN reported.

"We take any threats to CNN employees or workplaces, around the world, extremely seriously," CNN said in a statement. "This one is no exception. We have been in touch with local and federal law enforcement throughout, and have taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety of our people."

Last September, Griesemer was identified as person who made derogatory comments about an Islamic center in Ann Arbor, Michigan after calling there, the FBI stated, per CNN. Ann Arbor police had traced the phone call back to a phone owned by Griesemer's father.

After contacting Griesemer at his mother's home, he reportedly admitted he called the mosque on "and that he was angry at the time of the call," the FBI affidavit said, per CNN.
