If you want to have lunch with Warren Buffet you better be prepared to put in a bid that can top $3 million, because that is how much someone is prepared to pay to spend an afternoon with the billionaire investing legend.

For the past 19 years, Buffett has been auctioning off a lunch date in an effort to raise money for charity and has raked in almost $26 million in that time, CNBC noted.

This year the Berkshire Hathaway CEO is on fire, with a top bid of $3,200,100 placed Thursday evening, and the auction hosted by EBay for Charity has not even closed yet.

Bids will no longer be accepted as of 7:30 p.m. PST/10:30 p.m. EST on Friday, but until then the lunch is wide open for the taking.

The money raised from this year's auction will go toward Glide, an organization dedicated to alleviating poverty in the San Francisco Bay Area through a range of services that serve 750,000 meals a year.

Buffet noted that Glide was one of the "most effective" organizations he has seen "for people down on their luck."

The winner of the lunch will dine with Buffett at Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in New York City and will be allowed to bring seven friends along for the occasion, CNBC noted.

The initiative has drawn some hefty bids in past years, including $3,456,789 in 2016 from an anonymous woman, as well as $5.25 million from Red Weschler, a hedge fund manager who paid to win two auctions and later became one of Buffett's investing deputies at Berkshire.
