Actor Luke Wilson helped pull a woman from a car that was involved in a collision that injured pro golfer Bill Haas and killed his 71-year-old driver Tuesday night in Pacific Palisades, California, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Los Angeles Police reported that Wilson's vehicle was clipped by a Ferrari driven by Mark Gibello, 71, before the collision with a BMW driven by the woman, according to KTLA-TV.

Sean Heirigs, who witnessed the accident, told The Hollywood Reporter he and Wilson helped the woman, 50, out of her smoking vehicle after the accident.

"He was the hero, he led the charge," Heirigs, 46, told the celebrity publication. "(The BMW driver was) crying, she's screaming, she doesn't really know what happened and she was dangling into the passenger side," Heirigs told The Hollywood Reporter. "Her leg was stuck."

Heirigs said the Ferrari clipped Wilson's Toyota SUV before running into a pole while the BMW had flipped onto its passenger side, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Heirigs told the publication that Wilson, 46, came up with a plan to get her out of the vehicle, fearing that it may catch on fire.

"We were able to get her leg out from being stuck and then she came out and Luke was pulling her through the back trunk area and then we both carried her to the curb," Heirigs told The Hollywood Reporter. "And this was all going on while the Ferrari's wheels are still spinning and blowing rubber and smoke everywhere and it's loud and you're smelling lots of smoke and there's glass."

Haas who was hospitalized but escaped serious injury, withdrew from the Genesis Open starting Thursday. Gibello was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman from the BMW, who was not identified, was hospitalized with serious injuries, The Hollywood Reporter said.

"Bill will withdraw from the Genesis Open and plans to head home to Greenville (South Carolina) to recover. He appreciates the support of friends, family and the golf world as a whole, and he has asked for privacy as he processes what has happened," according to the statement from the PGA Tour and Haas' management company, Players Group Management.

Haas' father, former PGA golfer Jay Haas, told the Golf Channel that his son has pain and swelling in his leg but suffered no broken bones. Jay Haas said his son is expected to make a full recovery.

"Bill was very fortunate," Jay Haas added.
