Lucian Wintrich, a conservative commentator, was arrested after a fight broke out during his "It's OK to be White” speech at the University of Connecticut on Tuesday, Fox News reported.

Tensions flared when the 29-year-old White House correspondent for the right-wing blog Gateway Pundit spoke at UConn's Andre Schenker Lecture Hall but was repeatedly interrupted by members of the audience.

The altercation was caught on camera, with footage showing two members of the audience getting out of their seats and confronting Wintrich while he was standing at the podium, according to Fox News.

In the video, a woman grabs a piece of paper from the podium and walks away but Wintrich follows and grabs her from behind in an attempt to retrieve the paper.

ABC News reported the incident quickly escalated as other members of the audience jumped in to intervene.

Police were able to diffuse the situation and escorted Wintrich from the venue.

There were no reported injuries but, according to ABC News, Wintrich and a student, 19-year-old Sean Miller, were both arrested and later released on $1,000 bond.

UConn spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz said via The Daily Mail that Miller was charged with the breach of peace and criminal mischief after he allegedly broke a window during the altercation.

She added that a smoke bomb was thrown inside the venue by another member of the audience.

UConn President Susan Herbst said the evening was a disappointment.

"Our hope as educators is that creative leadership and intellectual energy can be an antidote to that sickness, especially on university campuses," she said, per the Daily Mail.

"Between the offensive remarks by the speaker who also appeared to aggressively grab an audience member and the reckless vandalism that followed, that was certainly not the case on our campus tonight. We are better than this."

Wintrich has since been vocal of the incident on social media.

“It's really unfortunate that some of the kids at @UConn felt the need to be violent and disruptive during a speech that focused on how the leftist media is turning Americans against each other,” he said in one post, threatening legal action against the woman who stole his document and the university in a separate tweet.
