Light-up cotton candy is the latest popular treat available at Disney theme parks in the U.S. and around the world.

The concoction is not full of phosphorescent food products, but uses a light-up, flashing wand to produce a glow through the translucent spun sugar. A few different versions of the illuminated fairy floss have been offered recently, including a special one intended to be a companion for the Disney California Adventure’s World of Color show, PopSugar reported.

Fans are sharing their lit-up cotton candy experiences on social media and the trend is catching on, even with people who aren’t big fans of the sugary stuff. Refinery 29 reported that one person wrote, "I don’t normally buy cotton candy as an in-park treat . . . but when it looks like electric party lightning . . . who can say no?!?"

Many Disney-goers seem to feel that the glowing candy adds to the overall experience of princess castles, adventurous rides, and fireworks that sums up the Disney magic, Refinery 29 reported.

The light-up treat is part of a greater effort to take Disney’s food and drink to the next level, a goal which also recently produced "Avatar"-themed night blossom drinks that have also been hugely popular in Disney circles, Delish reported.

Twitter users were generally positive about the snack, but a few were not impressed.
